ABOUT THIS SITE
This site affords the general public an approximation to the extensive, rigorous and diverse work of a Colombian artist who, despite having contributed significantly to the arts, has not been known well enough. The site simply aims to insert the artist Luis Fernando Mejía Jaramillo and his work into the History of Art.
Considering that along his professional practice the artist repeatedly demonstrated a special appreciation for teaching, we aim to bring to light the characteristics of his work, as well as his proposals and contributions, so that those interested in art, and especially art professors and students, may have access to them as study materials and sources of research.
Here you will find, among other content, the artist’s profile and articles about arts in general and about the artist and his specific works. You will be able to enjoy temporary exhibitions and receive information regarding works available for sale. Additionally, in case you own one of the artist’s works, you may request specific information regarding it, and apply for licenses for use and reproduction of texts and images that make part of said work.
The contents of this site have been prepared taking into account the research paper titled “Luis Fernando Mejía Jaramillo. Beyond the shell of what is visible (life and work)” prepared by María Cecilia Mejía Jaramillo, under the guidance of Dr. Carlos Arturo Fernández Uribe, to qualify for the title of Master of Arts from the Universidad de Antioquia. The paper, which received the jury’s maximum award (outstanding), sought to disclose in a coherent way the artist’s background, to ascertain the events that were determining in his artistic activity, and to structure a comprehensive analysis of his work to be able to substantiate in one single body his contributions to art, the subjects of his interest, and the ideas that the artist wanted to communicate.
